Admission into DYSO is determined by an audition committee. All students who are accepted will continue to participate in their school orchestra program while they are a member of DYSO.

Eligibility
Membership in DYSO is open to Dublin orchestra students entering grades 5 - 9.
Membership Requirements
DYSO members must continue to participate in their school orchestra program & pay a $40 yearly registration fee.
Audition Requirements
All students should be prepared to perform:
1) Major Scales:
C, G, D, A from memory. One octave (ascending and descending) is required; you are encouraged to perform two or more octaves if you can.
2) Solo Piece:
Your choice - a solo that demonstrates your current ability including skills such as vibrato, shifting, and dynamics. Solo piece should be a composed solo written for your instrument, not a part of an ensemble or orchestra class music.
3) Sight Reading:
Provided at your audition - you may be asked to play a section of a piece you have never seen before, in order to demonstrate your music-reading proficiency.

How do I sign up for an audition?
Fill out the online registration form that will be linked on this page. Complete the form by the deadline, and then you will receive an email with your assigned audition time approximately one week before auditions take place. 24-25 Registration is now closed.
When will I know if I've been accepted?
Audition results will be communicated by email approximately one week after auditions take place.
Returning Students
Current DYSO members do not need to re-audition! Mr. Hawley will send an email at the end of each season confirming your choice to participate in the next season. Please let us know as soon as possible if you decide not to continue - that way, we can offer your spot to another deserving student!
